2003 Buick Rainer Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:

Close all vehicle doors
Insert the key into the ignition.
Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s
door panel-continue to hold down until instructed to release
in step 9.
Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can
go without starting the engine).
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors automatically.
Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter
simultaneously until the door locks and unlocks.
This step may take up to 30 seconds.
Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing
transmitters).
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

2004-2007 Buick Rainer Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:

Program only when system malfunction, key added or replaced.

Obtain all remote transmitters
close all doors
Insert key into ignition, do not turn ignition switch
Press and hold door lock switch in the unlock position
Switch ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF
Release door lock switch
System should now lock and unlock vehicle indicating programming mode activated
Proceed as followsNOTE: Existing remote transmitter memory positions will be overwritten

Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCk buttons on first remote transmitter for 15 seconds
System will lock and unlock vehicle indicating remote transmitter programmed
Repeat above procedure for each remote transmitter
NOTE: A maximum of 4 remote transmitters can be programmed
Switch ignition ON to exit programming mode
Check operation of all programmed remote transmitters
Remote transmitters can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment

Immobilizer

When

Any of the following:
- Ignition lock sensor
- Body control module (BCM)
- Engine control module (ECM)
How – Switch ignition ON
Crank engine. The engine will not start
System LED will illuminate or flash
After approximately 10 minutes system LED will switch OFF
Switch ignition OFF
Wait 5 seconds
Switch ignition ON
Crank engine. The engine will not start
System LED will illuminate or flash
After approximately 10 minutes system LED will switch OFF
Switch ignition OFF
Wait 5 seconds
Switch ignition ON
Crank engine. The engine will not start
System LED will illuminate or flash
After approximately 10 minutes system LED will switch OFF
Switch ignition OFF
Wait 5 seconds
Start engine
Switch ignition OFF
Erase stored trouble codes
NOTE: History trouble codes will self clear after 100 ignition switch ON/OFF cycles

The Buick Rainier is a mid-size SUV from General Motors. Introduced for 2004 to replace the Oldsmobile Bravada, the Rainier is the first truck sold under the Buick marque (the unibody Rendezvous might also qualify) since the 1920s, and is the first body-on-frame V8-powered Buick since the 1996 Roadmaster. The Rainier (and Rendezvous) were replaced by a new crossover SUV, the Enclave, on the GM Lambda platform for 2008.

The Rainier was only available in a 5-passenger bodystyle, but was one of the three GMT360 truck to offer V8 power in this configuration with the GMC Envoy Denali and Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS. Both rear and all wheel drive models are offered. An upscale CXL trim added a better Bose stereo and XM Satellite Radio.

Buick also debuted the QuietTuning concept of acoustic control on the Rainier. Buick’s QuietTuning involves designing a vehicle with sound dampening features like triple door seals, acoustic laminate glass, and thicker sound-absorbing pads on the hood and firewall.
