1991-1996 Buick Regal Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:
Note: Existing keyless remotes will be erased with this procedure.
Existing working remotes will have to reprogrammed also.
- Locate the programming connector wire located in the RH trunk area.
You may have to pull back right side trunk trim on trunk wall to locate
the single black/white wire. - The programming connector wire should have one termial in the plastic
connector on end of black/white wire. Ground the terminal in the connector
to a nearby bolt or trunk latch.
Leave connector wire connected to ground through out procedure. - System will now lock and unlock doors automatically to indicate
programming mode has been activated. - Press any button on keyless remote. System will respond by locking
and unlocking doors one time to indicate successful programming. - Repeat step 4 for to program any additonal keyless remotes including
and existing keyless remotes. Do not remove ground wire between
programming of keyless remotes. - Disconnect programming connector wire from ground to exit programming
mode. - Test keyless remote(s).
2001-2004 Buick Regal Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:
There is no onboard programming procedure for Buick Regal 2001-2004. These vehicles requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote. Please contact your dealer or automotive locksmith.
2011-2013 Buick Regal Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:
Only program key when added or replaced or on system malfunction
Without smart entry system: Remote transmitter can only be programmed using diagnostic equipment
NOTE: Existing remote transmitter programming will be erased
- Obtain and reprogram all remote transmitterNOTE: A maximum of 5 remote transmitters can be programmed
How – with Smart entry system an done programmed remote transmitter available. NOTE: A maximum of 5 remote transmitters can be programmed
- Obtain all remote transmittersNOTE: Switch ignition OFF
- Place all programmed remote transmitters in the cup holder
- Insert key of the unrecognized remote transmitter into the driver’s door lock
- Turn key to unlock position 5 times within 10 seconds
- Driver information center will display READY FOR REMOTE $2, 3, 4, or 5
- Place the unrecognized remote transmitter into the remote transmitter pocket with buttons facing up
- Press ignition switch
- When remote transmitter is programmed, the DIC will show it is ready for next remote transmitter
- Remove remote transmitter from remote transmitter pocket and press the UNLOCK button
- To program additional remote transmitters, repeat previews steps starting with inserting next remote transmitter key into the driver’s door lockNOTE: To exit the programming mode, press and hold the ignition button for 10 seconds

How – with Smart entry system and no programmed remote transmitters available

- Driver information center will display REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT
- Wait 10 minutes until DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN
- Press ignition switch
- Driver information center will display REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT
- Press ignition switch
- Driver information center will display REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT
- Wait 10 minutes until DIC display PRESSS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN
- Press ignition switch
- Driver information center will display REMOTE LEARN PEDNING, PLEASE WAIT
- Wait 10 minutes until DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN
- Press ignition switch
- Deriver information center will display REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT
- All previously programmed remote transmitters are now erased
- DIC will display READY FOR REMOTE #1
- Place the unrecognized remote transmitter into remote transmitter pocket with buttons facing up
- Press the ignition switch
- When remote transmitter is programmed, the DIC will show it is ready for next remote transmitter
- Remove remote transmitter from remote transmitter pocket and press the UNLOCK button
- To program additional remote transmitters, repeat preview steps starting with inserting next remote transmitters into the remote transmitter pocket
- NOTE: To exit the programming mode, press and hold teh ignition button for 10 seconds

The Buick Regal is a mid-size luxury car introduced by General Motors for the 1973 model year. North American production ended in 2004 and began again in 2011. For the 2011 model year, Buick re-introduced the Regal to the North American market, positioned as an upscale sport sedan. Production and sales in China have continued since 1999.
